McAfee know there is an issue removing their software and provide a tool (MCPR) to completely remove that: NOTE: before you install any new security suite, you need to completely remove McAfee, which is not easy to do. The only thing I did find, is when it installs, choose Custom install and only install the features you need on your PC, it can tend to install a lot of stuff you will never need I have used Avast Free for many years, I have never had an issue or any sort of infection on my PC whilst using that Avast Security Suite, it is probably the best of the free solutions. If you want the best on-demand scanner install and run a full scan with Malwarebytes free scanner: I would uninstall any 3rd party antivirus and try running only built-in Defender which gives adequate protection, least issues, and is from Microsoft who knows how to protect their OS best.
